“I get inspired by my kids, my wife, skateboarding and friends. In terms of inspirational photographers, Jim Goldberg’s Raised By Wolves is a bible as is Eugene Richards Cocaine Blue, Cocaine True, those books were a real turning point. Tobin Yelland and Greg Hunt have been a huge influence and I’ve had to pinch myself at points when I’ve been shown on the same walls as those guys. Lately I’ve been getting real into photographers like JH Engstrom and Anders Petersen, but If I’m honest I soak up everything Photography related and have far too big a photo book collection and I’ve also got loads of notebooks full of photographer research.”

“I’m working on two books based around my Southbank work. There was a solo show of this work in London last year and an edited down version of it was shown at Public Domaine at Paris’s Gaite Lyrique, which was huge. Over the next couple of months I’m being filmed for a short documentary about my work and my approach to photographing skateboarding, I’m looking forward to seeing how that pans out. I’m also involved in Jai Tanju’s Film Por Vida and that’s great to be a part of and keeps me grounded. I’m sure there will be more shows with those guys in the new year. “

Keep your eyes peeled for Dan’s new Zine; ‘Hook Ups’ being relesed in the new year through Parking Block Publishing.
