Jie Liu – Square Succession
These images from the series ‘Square Succession’ have been sent to us by Jie Liu, a photographer originally from Xian, China who now lives and works in Munich, Germany…
“The series of architectural photographs SQUARE SUCCESSION is characterized by a monochrome background, which focuses on the individual buildings in their physical structure and its colors. The clear emphasis of the architectural forms and structures, and Liu’s eye for geometric patterns reveal his artistic interest in abstract painting. And although the photographer prescribes maximum objectivity in his approach, he ultimately stages the individual buildings in face of a strong background: stripped of their urban context, they appear as hyper-real phenomena.”
