Charlie Kirk

August 24, 2012

Charlie Kirk’s Black & White photographs show a compelling insight into japanese everyday routines. He talks about the series here…“I’ve have had an interest in photography for the last couple of years. I lived in Japan for the last decade, where all of these pictures were taken. I shoot in public and have a penchant for beautiful girls, umbrellas, drunk people and mirrors.”…. This rather chaotic but eloquently styled series shows the true madness of modern Japanese life. Normally when we see images of Japan, we see vivid colours filled with masses of people. However these images isolate people, making them look more like deers caught in the headlights. Along with the classic Black & White filmic style means these images standout as some damn fine street photography.

Charlie is certainly one of my favorite photographers. He’s got some real talent, as well as courage and determination enough to capture these great moments.
